3 Ways Of Arranging Home Decorations
You can have a hard time deciding where to arrange or place decorations in your home. Here is a three step system that will transform your boring or cluttered spaces into charming vignettes!
Harmony and Dissimilarity
When you decorate the house, you want to make it the opposite of boring. This has a lot less to do with the objects you choose than how you choose to display them. Make the accessories interesting by combining harmony and contrast. Both will be needed for an arrangement to be exciting. Perhaps you could create harmony by repeating a square shape or the colour purple, and then add contrast by sitting a smooth candlestick next to a rough basket.
Scale and Shape
You should make sure that your accessories have sizes that are proportional to your furniture. Many people use items that are actually too small for the surroundings. If you do have small decorations, arrange them on a plate or a fabric-covered box to make them stand out. Putting them on a higher surface will also be a good idea.
Layer and Soften
Now that you have your items, you should then layer and soften. You should begin with a bigger and taller item placed near the center. That item will be your center point. Next, you tackle the outer layers. Make a background layer with the tallest items, a medium layer with the med-sized items, and a front layer with your smallest decorations. Objects arranged with different heights keep things from getting boring. Add some fabric or twisted ribbon to soften the edges of the shelf or table, to bring in colour, and to highlight certain objects.
You should always be open to try new arrangements until you get one that’s perfect for you. Make use for things in unlikely ways. You can slip a plant into an arrangement to make it livelier. Even professional designers will occasionally be surprised by trying things in a new way! If you find that your decorations look messy, you probably included too many items. Develop a prop box or closet where you can keep some of your treasures, and switch them over a couple of times a year for a fresh new look without spending a dime!
