Unspoiled Europe
Question: What is your favorite holiday spot when you travel to Europe ?
If your answer is Barcelona or Paris than you should think again. Life’s to short to visit the same place twice. There are so many sights to explore in the “old continent” which are not walked by the “average tourist”, which can offer so much more for a lot less, can make you feel the rush of a genuine adventure instead of the dull, well planned ones.
You can discover such hidden spots in the Balkan area or in the Northern part of Europe. Romania, Monte Negro, Croatia, Poland, Slovenia, are few of the countries where the traveler will discover those hidden attractions, those unique adventures, those wild landscapes unspoiled by the tourist crowds. If you never heard of the Painted Monasteries of Bukovina in the northern part of Romania, or the golden sands from Bulgaria, or of the “Hidden Pearl of Mediterranean” – which is Monte Negro, or of the ski resorts in Ukraine, than you should reconsider your plans for the next holiday.
One of the most beautiful and little known places in Europe, is Bukovina region, in the north-eastern part of Romania. For centuries this place has been a hidden gem, but now it is a tourist gold, a true wonder of the world where Prince Charles likes to visit often. Here, in a serene landscape, you will find what’s known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Orient”, Voronet Monastery, one of the 7 monasteries listed in the UNESCO World Heritage list, and probably the most interesting for it’s vivid almost psychedelic frescoes(on it’s interior and exterior walls) which tells the story of The Bible. The “Voronet blue” color is predominant and it’s considered by art specialists to be unique in the world and famous like Rubens Red or Veronese Green. This unique frescoes, though they are 600 years old still preserve their gorgeous colors, amazing the visitor with the perfection of the drawings and the wonderfully balanced tones. Another unique attraction is the “Merry Cemetery” from Sapanta, a cemetery where every cross wears a epitaph written in a funny way which tells the life story of the “owner”. Also the region of Bukovina hides some century old traditions still kept alive by the locals. You can visit Marginea, world famous for it’s Black Ceramics, where you can work for few houres in a genuine pottery workshop or you can visit Moldovita’s International Painted Egg Museum, with over 1200 exhibits.
Other attractions this region has to offer, are the offroad adventures, Bucovina being placed at the foothills of the Carpathians Mountains. Also you can try rafting, climbing, paragliding, bungee jumping , mountain biking and many other adrenaline full adventures.
